First Candle Burn
The first time you burn your candle, we recommend burning it for 3 hours until the wax has melted to the edge. This will help prevent your candle from tunnelling.

The candle on left shows how the wax can form a tunnel if not burned correctly. The candle on right was burned for 3 hours allowing the wax to melt all the way to the edge.
The Importance of Trimming your Wick
It is crucial to trim your wick to 6mm before every use. A well-trimmed wick ensures a controlled flame and a clean, smooth burn. An untrimmed wick can lead to an uncontrolled flame and is more prone to ash and debris, creating a fire hazard.

When trimming your cotton wicks, ensure you position the wick trimmer 6mm above the wax.
If burning a wood wick candle, there is no need to use a wick trimmer. You can gently break off the burnt sections of the wick using your fingers. Ensure the candle has completely cooled from its last burn before doing this.
Extinguishing your Candle
We strongly advise using a candle extinguisher or snuffer to extinguish your candle flame.
This practice not only extends the burn time of your candles but also prevents the wick from moving/shifting and minimises the risk of soot and wax spillage. Above all, using a candle extinguisher is the safest way to put out your candle.

To extinguish your candle, position the candle extinguisher or snuffer over the flame for 10 seconds. This action restricts the oxygen supply to the flame, causing it to go out. After each use, remove any excess wax residue from your tool using paper towel and dispose in your waste bin. Do not put wax down a drain.
Safely extinguish your candles with our Frankie and Me Extinguisher. This essential accessory ensures your candle does not splatter wax or leave a black, smoky residue.
Candle Safety Guidelines
- Never leave a burning candle unattended and ensure all candles are burnt out of reach of children and pets.
- When burning multiple candles, always leave at least 6cm between candles.
- Always place candles on a stable, protected, heat and stain-resistant surface away from drafts.
- Trim your candle wick before use to help create a smooth burn and prevent ash and debris. We recommend trimming your candle to 6mm for the optimal burn using a candle trimmer for cotton wicks or by using your fingertips for wood wick candles.
- Use a candle extinguisher to put out your flame and only burn for a maximum of 3 hours at a time.
- Stop use when 1cm of wax remains. Burning beyond this point can lead to the jar/container breaking which may cause damage to your property.
- Discard glass jar after use or where possible, try to clean and reuse your jar to minimise wastage. Just be sure to avoid any uses that may involve storing food as our jars are not intended for food storage.
- Always extinguish your candles before moving them to avoid burns and spillages.
- Always use your candles in a well-ventilated area.
Using your Reed Diffuser
To begin using your reed diffuser, remove the cap and place the rattan reeds into the bottle allowing the liquid to absorb. Once absorbed, turn the reeds over to ensure both ends of the reeds are saturated. We recommend rotating your reeds every two to three weeks for a fresher scent. Please note, the more you rotate, the quicker the oil will absorb and evaporate.

Ensure to wash your hands after handling the reeds to wash off any oil. We recommend wearing gloves when handling your diffuser reeds to protect your skin. Please use care when rotating your reeds or moving your diffuser as the oil may cause staining.
