Design Group Australia proudly supports The Salvation Army

Together, we can ensure nobody struggles alone at Christmas.
Picture the scene: it’s Christmas Eve. A family, who has just endured months of struggle and traumatic hardship, sits on the steps of a housing centre, hoping someone will come to help them.
Fiona, Mark, and their children, Lucas and Taylor, have just been evicted from their home. They have run out of money and lost all hope. They are praying for something, anything, to get them through this nightmare, but no one comes. The housing centre is closed, after all; it’s Christmas Eve.
Still reeling from the shock, they hang their heads in despair.

“It was Christmas when the Salvos came into our lives. Six months earlier, I never would have thought we’d need them, but everything changed when Mark had his accident and couldn’t walk. It was just a matter of time before we struggled to pay the rent.
When the police knocked on the door and told us we had 24 hours to get out, I was terrified. We had no money left. We had nowhere to go. I remember sitting on those steps at the housing centre with Mark and our two children on Christmas Eve in a daze when that Salvos officer came out of nowhere and changed everything for us.
Before the day was over he’d found us a house! A whole house! A home where we could live and be a family. At Christmas! It felt like a miracle. The next day was Christmas Day. The Salvos came with a Christmas Tree, Christmas presents for the kids, and this big box full of food.
That was the beginning of our journey with the Salvos. They showed us unconditional love, and our lives were changed forever.
The Salvos were amazing that Christmas, they truly keep families together. I don’t know where my children would be without them. Thank you so much!” – Fiona
