How to celebrate Galentine’s Day with your gals?

  1. Head out for a delicious brunch at your favourite café and perhaps even order a cheeky Mimosa
  2. Book in a Mani-Pedi together
  3. Watch a chick flick together. Our suggestions: Bridesmaids, Mean Girls, or the classics: Heartbreakers, Grease and of course My Girl!
  4. Retail therapy, just because
  5. Bake a cake and have it alongside your favourite cocktail

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day, follows closely on February 14th. Whether you are coupled up or have a secret crush, it’s always special to express your love and we have a range of funny and beautiful greeting cards to help you express your feelings for that special someone.

Some fun facts about Valentine’s Day:

  1. Every year, 1000s of romantics send letters addressed to Verona, Italy to “Juliet,” the subject of the timeless romantic tragedy, “Romeo and Juliet.”
  2. History’s first valentine was written in a prison. Charles, Duke of Orleans wrote the love letter to his second wife back in the early 15th century.
  3. Around 27.6 million American households gave Valentine’s Day presents to their pet dogs last year, and more than 17.1 million picked up gifts for their cats! What will you be gifting to your beloved fur baby?
  4. In Japan, the women give a Valentine’s gift to the men in their lives and the men repay the favour a month later, on March 14.
  5. It’s time to put on that red outfit! A study by University of Rochester psychologists found that men viewed women wearing red or standing in front of a red background as significantly more attractive and sexually desirable than women wearing or standing in front of different colours.
  6. In the Middle Ages, the “X” symbol was used to sign off on documents, the writer would often kiss the mark as a sign of their oath. This is where “sealed with a kiss” came from.
  7. Have you got your card? Approximately one billion Valentine cards are sent each year around the world.
  8. Pucker up! A kiss on Valentine’s Day is considered to bring good luck all year.
  9. Candy hearts were originally medical lozenges.
  10. Teachers receive the most Valentine’s Day cards each year. Will you be writing your teacher a Valentine’s Day card?
